In the heart of the Aragonese Pyrenees, we find the spectacular Protected Landscape of San Juan de la Peña and Mount Oroel. Nestled in this setting, one of the most outstanding features is the Old Monastery of San Juan de la Peña, a jewel of medieval times. The remaining buildings are privileged testimonies of the successive artistic forms over the different epochs of this landmark. Particularly noteworthy are the Romanesque centuries (XI to XIII) with remarkable examples of architecture, painting and especially sculpture. The historical-artistic complex of San Juan de la Peña is completed with the 17th century New Monastery, and the churches of San Caprasio and Santa María in the nearby town of Santa Cruz de la Serós, both from the Romanesque period.
